Red Ribbon is setting up a prefabricated housing factory using a revolutionary new technology which uses glass reinforced concrete to manufacture social housing. Priced competitively between Rs 100,000 and Rs 500,000 these houses have a life of more than 70 years, are earthquake proof, can withstand wind speeds of 120 mph and can be assembled by a ten man team in ten hours. This will provide a robust solution for the severe shortage of quality housing experienced in the rural parts of India and also for people affected by natural calamities such as tsunami, floods, earthquakes, etc. This project is one of the many venture philanthropy programmes planned by the shareholders and directors of Red Ribbon.
